Denim Day

When:

April 27th

What:

Virtual: Wear jeans - take a photo or two of you wearing as much denim as you can and post to your social media #denimday #saam and tag us @embarkwi

Once safe in person options available: social events of people grouped in same area in denim, basically same thing, taking photos, signs to explain event on chapter level for group photo

Why:

In 1992, an 18 year old girl was raped by a 45 year old. He was arrested and convicted but later appealed the result. The Italian supreme court ruled that her jeans were so tight that she would have needed to help the perpertrator remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex. They called this the “jeans alibi”. Denim day is an annual awareness event, protesting the result and promoting #SAAM every year.
